Best ExpoFP alternatives for trade show organizers

Six alternatives ranked for organizers who sell booth space and manage exhibitors, with an honest account of where ExpoFP is still the better answer.

The strongest ExpoFP alternatives are Map D, for organizers who want booth sales, exhibitor management, registration and badging on the same record as the floor plan; MapYourShow, for very large established shows; and 3e by EXPOCAD, where a CAD drafting workflow or a general service contractor is already involved. The reason to leave ExpoFP is usually scope rather than price — it publishes its rates, and it is a focused floor-plan product rather than a full event platform.

Written by Map D. Map D is ranked first on this list and also publishes it, which is a conflict of interest — read it with that in mind. Claims about other platforms are limited to what those companies publish on their own sites, and each is sourced at the foot of the page. Last verified September 2026.

What ExpoFP is good at

ExpoFP does a specific thing well, and it publishes its prices, which most of this category does not. If the following describes your show, there may be no reason to move.

  • A dedicated floor-plan builder, FP Designer, with an Organizer Portal for managing the plan.
  • Exhibitors see live availability and can reserve or purchase space by credit card directly on the map.
  • Exhibitors maintain their own logo, description and contacts through a personal auto-login link.
  • Rates are published on its own pricing page, with a free trial to start from.

When staying with ExpoFP is right

  • The floor plan is the only thing you need software for, and registration, badging and exhibitor operations are already handled elsewhere and working.
  • You want to see a price and start without a sales call. ExpoFP supports that, and most of this category does not.
  • Your show is small enough that a second system is a cost rather than a convenience.

How this list is ranked

  • This is a scope comparison, not a price one. ExpoFP publishes its rates and offers a free trial, so the usual reason to shop around — not being able to find out what something costs — does not apply here.
  • Weighted for organizers who want the floor plan connected to booth sales, exhibitor management, registration and badging rather than standing on its own.
  • If a focused floor-plan tool is genuinely all you need, staying put is a legitimate outcome, and the section below says so.
  • Map D publishes this list and ranks itself first, which is a conflict of interest. What makes that defensible is the weighting being stated rather than implied — and every entry here, including ours, carries its limitations in the same words and the same styling.

Publishing a rate does not make a product better. It decides whether you can size a budget before committing to a sales cycle, which is a different and more checkable question than which tool is best.

Map D’s rates are per event and listed on the pricing page. The dashed column has no height and no figure on purpose: where rates are not published we will not put a number on them, and where they are published we will not restate one that can change without notice.

    Map D

Organizers whose event revenue comes off the show floor

    Strengths

    • Floor plan, booth and sponsorship sales, exhibitor portal and reporting run off one event record, and ticketing, registration, badging and lead retrieval join that same record when your show adds them.
    • Pricing is published: $1,500, $2,500 or $2,750 per event, listed on the pricing page, so a budget can be sized without a sales call.
    • Per event rather than per seat — adding organizers or exhibitors does not change the plan price, and no booth, exhibitor or attendee cap is published on any plan.
    • Roughly 800 organizers run about 6,000 events a year on Map D, which has processed more than $250M in booth and sponsorship sales and drawn over 800,000 booths.
See what Map D does with a floor plan

    Limitations

    • No venue sourcing and no room-block contracting. Map D links attendees to your hotel booking page, but if your program is built around sourcing venues and holding room nights, this is the wrong tool and Cvent is not.
    • No venue booking or building operations. Map D runs the show inside a venue, not the venue.
    • If your event has no sellable floor — a pure conference, a training programme — most of what you would be paying for goes unused.
    • Ticketing and registration, with badge printing and onsite check-in, and lead retrieval are add-ons quoted to your event portfolio rather than part of the published per-event plans.
  2. 2

    MapYourShow

Large, established trade shows with a mature exhibitor directory

    Strengths

    • Floor Builder for the plan, with MYS Sales Pro and Booth Sales covering exhibit sales.
    • An Exhibitor Resource Center where exhibitors manage listings, deadlines and promotions.
    • MYS Smart Scan for lead retrieval, plus Conference Management and a mobile app.
    • Long-standing presence on very large show floors, which is its own kind of evidence.

    Limitations

    • Rates are not published. The site routes you to a demo, so a like-for-like budget comparison needs a sales conversation first.
    • Oriented to large shows with an established directory, which can be more platform than a smaller organizer team needs.
  3. 3

    3e by EXPOCAD

Shows with a CAD-first drafting workflow, and general service contractors

    Strengths

    • A CAD heritage: EXPOCAD Contractor for drafting, with the 3e cloud platform layered over it.
    • Exhibit sales and sponsorship sales tools, plus an exhibitor portal covering online contracts, invoices, payments and exhibitor badges.
    • Explicitly serves general service contractors and venues as well as organizers, which matters if your GSC is already working in EXPOCAD.

    Limitations

    • Rates are not published; the site asks you to schedule a demo or submit an RFP.
    • The CAD lineage is a real advantage for precise drafting and a real cost if nobody on your team works that way.
  4. 4

    A2Z Events

Associations already standardized on the Momentive Software stack

    Strengths

    • Broad module list: Floor Plan Management, Exhibitor Management, Sponsorship Management, Event Registration Software, Badge Printing & Check-In, Lead Retrieval and Attendee Matchmaking.
    • Part of Momentive Software's portfolio alongside its association management systems, which is the strongest reason to pick it.

    Limitations

    • Rates are not published; the site asks you to book a demo.
    • Booth e-commerce is not something the site describes. It markets floor plan management and revenue tooling, but self-serve booth purchase is not documented publicly.
    • The pull is the surrounding AMS ecosystem. If you do not use the rest of it, that advantage does not apply to you.
  5. 5

    Momentus Technologies

Organizations that operate a venue rather than tour between them

    Strengths

    • Venue booking and operations across convention centers, stadiums, arenas, universities and arts centers.
    • Built around filling and running a building's calendar, which no organizer-first platform attempts.

    Limitations

    • Rates are not published; the site directs you to book a demo.
    • If you rent space rather than operate it, you are the organizer, and venue operations features only earn their cost when you own the building's calendar.
  6. 6

    Cvent

Corporate meeting programs, venue sourcing and enterprise procurement

    Strengths

    • Breadth across the full corporate meetings lifecycle rather than the show floor specifically.
    • Venue sourcing and hotel room-block management, which most event platforms do not attempt at all.
    • Enterprise requirements — security review, SSO, global support and the compliance paperwork large organizations ask for.

    Limitations

    • Rates are not published; the pricing page asks you to request a quote.
    • The commercial model is oriented around registrations and the attendee experience, which is a different workflow from selling booth space.

When another tool on this list is the better buy

Named, not hedged. If one of these describes your show, the vendor beside it is the honest answer and Map D is not.

  • ExpoFPYou want a floor plan and nothing else. ExpoFP is narrower by design and publishes its rates; a broader platform is only worth paying for if you will use the rest of it.
  • Momentus TechnologiesYou operate a venue and need booking and building operations, which Map D does not do at all.
  • CventYou need venue sourcing and room-block contracting in the same system as the event. Map D links out to a hotel booking page rather than holding the nights itself.

Frequently asked questions

Why do organizers look for an ExpoFP alternative?

Usually scope rather than cost. ExpoFP publishes its rates, so price transparency is not the complaint. The move tends to happen when the floor plan is working but everything around it — registration, badges, exhibitor deliverables, lead retrieval — lives in other systems that have to be reconciled against it.

Does ExpoFP handle booth sales?

Yes. ExpoFP states that exhibitors see live availability and can reserve or purchase space by credit card directly on the map. If self-serve booth purchase is the specific gap you are trying to close, ExpoFP already closes it, and that is worth knowing before you shop.

How does Map D's pricing compare?

Map D publishes per-event pricing: $1,500, $2,500 or $2,750, with the interactive floor plan on all three tiers and online booth sales from the Growth plan. This page deliberately does not restate ExpoFP's figures — they are on its own pricing page, which is linked in the sources, and published rates change without notice.

Can I try Map D on my own floor plan before deciding?

Yes, and you build it rather than watching a demo of someone else's. Get access to the map editor free, upload the layout you already have, and place your own booths — then compare the real thing against what you are running now instead of comparing feature lists.
